Addressing Food Poverty
Root Causes
Here are just some of the reasons why we address the root causes of food poverty
Long Term Impact
We want to prevent people from needing emergency help in the first place, so we look to address the wider issues associated with food poverty so that we can have lasting impact.
Dignity & Independence
Anyone can find themselves in need of help, so we look to allow people to gain more control of their lives. We want to empower people and treat them with dignity and respect.
Community
People doen't exist in a vacuum so we want to provide community for people who access our services. Loneliness, social isolation and lack of connection can exist alongside food poverty.
Fairness
A better system to address food poverty recognises that it often stems from deeper inequalities.
Solutions
Whilst we acknowledge that, at the moment, emergency food is a reality of our society, we aim to provide solutions that mean everyone has ongoing access to basic needs.
Breaking the Cycle
Because food poverty is a complex issue with many root causes, one issue can feed into others causing more problems. We want to break the cycle of poverty and allow people to be more stable and productive.
